Artist's Comments
This was my first drawing done specifically for a contest on DA.
I won 3rd place in  's "Young and Old" contest!  "Baby" is based on a photo by Volker Banken that I found at Webshots: [link] He has a website here: [link] I tried a new working surface with this drawing . I generally use drawing papers on a larger scale around an A2 (18 x 24 inches) or larger, but this time I tried smaller sized vellum finish bristol board. A3 (14 x 17") Nero pencil 8B graphite pencil for detail in the eyes Kneadable eraser Electric eraser for some detail work Stump and cotton swabs for blending Vellum bristol board 9 or 10 hours work (I kinda lost track) (edited to add my signature to drawing) Comments super cute!

I thought it was a light black-and-white photo when I first saw the thumbnail, then I realized whose deviation is was... xD The baby's eyes are gorgeous, and the shading fantastic. I really like that the shades are very light, because it sort of portrays the innocence of the baby. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Our objective is to recognise deviants who deserve more recognition and to feature deviations with less than 10 original comments. The 0-5 Comments Issues feature a deviant as well as 3 deviations with less than 5 original comments from a wide selection of art.
