Artist's Comments
This was my first drawing done specifically for a contest on DA.
I won 3rd place in  's "Young and Old" contest!  "Baby" is based on a photo by Volker Banken that I found at Webshots: [link] He has a website here: [link] I tried a new working surface with this drawing . I generally use drawing papers on a larger scale around an A2 (18 x 24 inches) or larger, but this time I tried smaller sized vellum finish bristol board. A3 (14 x 17") Nero pencil 8B graphite pencil for detail in the eyes Kneadable eraser Electric eraser for some detail work Stump and cotton swabs for blending Vellum bristol board 9 or 10 hours work (I kinda lost track) (edited to add my signature to drawing) Comments super cute!

I thought it was a light black-and-white photo when I first saw the thumbnail, then I realized whose deviation is was... xD The baby's eyes are gorgeous, and the shading fantastic. I really like that the shades are very light, because it sort of portrays the innocence of the baby.
